Dr. Doreh Behzadpoor
I earned my Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from The University of Western Ontario in 2012. After practicing general dentistry for several years, I found my passion for working with children, which inspired me to specialize in Pediatric Dentistry. I completed my specialty training at the University of Toronto and SickKids Hospital, where I gained valuable experience in providing care for children with diverse needs.
I am honoured to be a fellow of the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Canada and a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, holding board certification in both Canada and the United States. It is also a privilege to share my knowledge as a clinical instructor at the University of Toronto’s Pediatric Surgical Centre, where I have the opportunity to train the next generation of pediatric dentists in providing compassionate care under sedation.
I am passionate about organized dentistry and the growth of our profession. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to serve as the President of the Toronto Central Dental Society and as a member of its executive team. Currently, I serve as a councillor on the board of directors for the Ontario Dental Association, where I advocate for the health and well-being of children across the province.

Frequently Asked Questions
When should my child first see a dentist?
The Canadian Dental Association recommends a first visit within six months of the first tooth appearing, or by age one. Early visits help ensure your child’s smile starts off healthy and positive.
What is a pediatric dentist?
A pediatric dentist is a dental specialist who cares for the oral health of infants, children, and teens. After dental school, pediatric dentists complete an additional two to three years of full-time pediatric residency focused on child development, behaviour, and specialized dental treatment. Some pediatric dentists also choose to pursue board certification, a voluntary but rigorous process involving advanced examinations and ongoing professional development. Board certification offers extra reassurance that a pediatric dentist has demonstrated the highest level of knowledge, skill, and commitment to quality care. Dr. Doreh is board certified, and is honoured to be a Fellow of the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Canada and a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, holding board certification in both Canada and the United States.
How can I prepare my child for their dental visit?
You can help your child feel comfortable by keeping the conversation positive and simple. You can talk about the visit as a chance to meet me and explore the dental office, or read a children’s book about visiting the dentist. Avoid mentioning words that might create worry, like “pain” or “hurt” and let us guide the rest once you arrive.
Do you accept referrals from other dentists or health professionals?
Yes! We work closely with general dentists, family physicians, and specialists to provide comprehensive pediatric dental care and support for our shared patients.
